Reductions of 50 to 100 degree Fahrenheit have been documented and provide significant benefits to our environment. Using Recycled Ground Tire Rubber (GTR) in asphalt manufacturing offers a solution to the excess of tires found in our landfills and provides a substitute for SBS Polymer Modified Liquid Asphalt. In acting as a viable polymer substitute, this not only allows for the contractor to save money, but it also allows them to participate in an effective Green Recycling Technology. Asphalt made with recycled crumb rubber has been tested to reduce cracking in pavements and it has also been proven to reduce the road noise of traffic.
Recycled Asphalt Shingles (RAS) can come from two sources: factory rejects or tear off shingles from residences. By grinding up these products, we are recycling a non-degradable product that is currently filling up our Nation’s landfills. Asphalt Shingles are composed of Liquid Asphalt, Stone, and Fibers, all necessary ingredients in the manufacturing of asphalt. The major benefit of adding RAS is that it replaces up to 7% of the Liquid Asphalt Content needed to manufacture the asphalt. This replacement results in millions of dollars in savings to the state and local governments responsible for paying for these jobs.
